Our Sub-Committees

MEIMA currently has two sub-committees as follows:

MEIMA Regulatory Committee

Regulatory Committee

The Regulatory committee is a sub-committee of the Board.

The purpose of the Regulatory Committee is to be the voice of the industry and be the primary liaison with the various Middle Eastern Financial and Government Regulatory bodies who have a direct or indirect relationship with the Middle East Investment and Asset Management ecosystem. It will:

  • Have a focus on improving the efficiency of association members in complying with regulations and help develop the region’s regulatory framework for customer protection.

  • Solicit opinions from the association members on items of discussion to be raised with various regulatory bodies

  • Sponsor and develop policy papers on areas of interest to the profession and industry

  • To encourage common themes across the Middle East regulatory regime so that the wider region can become a larger more efficient market which will lead to improved standards, governance and costs.

  • Areas of interest for the committee relate to all matters relating to regulations but not limited to regulations, rules, taxes, laws, procedural matters, qualifications, etc.

Sustainable Investing Working Group

The MEIMA Sustainable Investing Working Group, Chaired by Tanja Ferri, and formed under the MEIMA Regulatory Committee, brings together subject matter experts to help drive forward the region’s ESG and sustainable investing initiatives. The Sustainable Investing Working Group provides strategic support and a platform for industry participants to discuss the challenges and opportunities in their journey to sustainability, and mobilizes stakeholders across the public and private sector. MEIMA Membership and Events Committee

Membership and Events Committee

The Membership and Events committee is a sub-committee of the Board.

The purpose of the Membership & Events Committee is to recruit and support current and new members in the following ways:

  • Respond to inquiries regarding membership and the association

  • Provide welcome email and support for new members

  • Review and provide input on new membership materials

  • Identify diverse membership needs, including membership engagement, benefits and services

  • Foster member retention

  • Make recommendations to the Board regarding changes in membership dues

  • Host MEIMA events or collaborate with other partners for other events for networking, awareness, collaboration and other. Agree on the agenda, help develop speaker lists and invite them

  • Organise a flagship annual MEIMA event to be held in various major asset management city hubs around the region with no single city hosting consequent events.

  • Manage sponsorships for the events
